MALADJUSTED Part 1 - The Month Diana Will Die

Morrissey released the album MALADJUSTED in mid-August 1997. ...

Princess Diana was killed in a car crash at the end of August 1997. ...

MALADJUSTED begins with audio of a film actor reciting the line:

"On this glorious occasion, of the splendid defeat."

Would anyone characterize Princess Diana's violent death as a "glorious occasion" and a "splendid defeat"?

On THE QUEEN IS DEAD, Morrissey's first verse said a violent death of a royal woman is "a wonderful thing." ...

her very Lowness with her head in a sling
I'm truly sorry - but it sounds like a wonderful thing

Morrissey released MALADJUSTED in the month that would conclude with the violent death of a royal woman, Princess Diana.
MALADJUSTED opens with an actor reciting the line, "ON THIS GLORIOUS OCCASION, OF THE SPLENDID DEFEAT."
That's consistent with the first verse on THE QUEEN IS DEAD, where the violent death of a royal woman is "a wonderful thing." ...

On the album MALADJUSTED - released in the month Princess Diana will die - Morrissey begins his lyrics with the line,

I wanna start from
before the beginning

Until then, there was only one Morrissey album (with and without The Smiths) that had something "before the beginning." ...

"Before the beginning" of THE QUEEN IS DEAD there is audio of a sing-along taken from the film THE L-SHAPED ROOM. ...

The novel THE L-SHAPED ROOM says the "L-shaped room" is in Fulham in a house that has prostitutes in the basement. ...

"My room was five flights up in one of those gone-to-seed houses in Fulham.
There were a couple of prostitutes in the basement."

"It's one room in the worst part of Fulham.  Two tarts live in the basement."

- THE L-SHAPED ROOM.  Lynne Reid Banks

In the first song on MALADJUSTED, Morrissey places himself in Fulham and casts himself as a prostitute ("working girls"). ...

I wanna start from
before the beginning ...

as the Fulham road lights
stretch and invite into the night ...

making it anything
other than easy
for working girls like me
I flop on your bed
with a head full of dread ...

- MALADJUSTED

Yes, it was the only time in his career that Morrissey's lyrics had ever mentioned the district of Fulham. ...

Thus, in the month Diana will die, Morrissey points to "before the beginning" of THE QUEEN IS DEAD. ...

THE QUEEN IS DEAD is the album foreshadowing the death of Princess Diana, the "queen of hearts."

MALADJUSTED was released in the month that concluded with the death of Princess Diana "queen of hearts."
The album's first song has, "I wanna start from before the beginning"; "Fulham"; and "working girls" (prostitutes).
"Before the beginning" of THE QUEEN IS DEAD, there is audio of a scene from THE L-SHAPED ROOM.
The novel THE L-SHAPED ROOM says the "L-shaped room" is in Fulham in a house where prostitutes live.
